Event Overview

BQLT Summer Jazz Series | June and July

This year, we’ve partnered with the Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium to bring free jazz performances to six gardens in Brooklyn and Queens. These small concerts bring an intimate live jazz experience for the communities that these gardens serve. The performances are completely free to attend, but feel free to donate to the gardens, or donate to our organization. There is no limit on who can come in, so if you see the garden open, come in even if you’re passing by for a song or two! See below for full list of participating gardens and performers.

This jazz summer series will be held in community gardens throughout Brooklyn and Queens. They will feature music performed by noted artists from the two boroughs.  Six outdoor concerts will take place on Saturdays, beginning June 16 and last through July 28, 2018.  The Brooklyn Queens Land Trust is sponsoring the events and programs by the Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium.

More About Us

The Brooklyn Queens Land Trust is a non-profit organization, incorporated to manage 34 community gardens in New York City.  These open spaces provide an opportunity for people to work cooperatively, as well as engage in educational and cultural activities.  The company’s office is located in a Brooklyn YWCA building, near Atlantic Terminal, at 30 Third Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11217.

Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium (CBJC) is an educational and programming tax-exempt company, incorporated in 1999.  CBJC is an amalgam of aficionados, entertainment venues, musicians, faith-based institutions, and community organizations. Over the past nineteen (19) years CBJC has presented an annual spring festival, established a Brooklyn Jazz Hall of Fame & Museum™, and produced yearly programs that feature local jazz talent. CBJC is committed to preserving, promoting and supporting live music within the underserved communities of Brooklyn. Visit the CBJC website for more info about the artists and the organization.
