We are excited to announce that the Brooklyn Borough President, Eric Adams, will be joining us on the bike & walking tour this year. BP Adams is a strong supporter of community gardens, an avid bicyclist, and enthusiastic about healthy plant-based eating. We can't wait to introduce him to more BQLT gardens and community members!
Meet us at 1:30 pm at Concerned Citizens of Grove Street for check-in, where you will pick up your free BQLT water bottle. If you donate $10 or more, you will also receive a free BQLT Bike & Walking Tour t-shirt while supplies last. These are exclusively for this year’s tour, so you don’t want to miss out!
The tour departs at 2:00 pm, and concludes with festivities from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the People’s Garden featuring live performances by Haiti Cultural Exchange and the Ricky Quiñones duo, and food catered by Woke Foods. All gardens participating in the tour will be open from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm for the day.
**The tour will take place rain or shine. Severe/hazardous weather will result in the event’s cancellation. In this case, registered participants will be notified via email by 8:30 am on the day of the tour. T-shirts will be available by pick up by appointment.**
BQLT’s gardens give community members access to critical green space in our environment. Our gardeners produce fruits, herbs, and vegetables while fostering a sense of community identity, ownership, and stewardship. These community gardens also provide safe outdoor spaces for children and families to play and interact. Our values reflect community engagement and involvement in community gardens.
We are looking for volunteers on the day of! If you’d like to volunteer, please reach out to the office at 718.963.7020 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
